After 10 years of new construction projects in the public sector, she migrated towards residential renovations, working primarily in the Anglophone community. Her extensive knowledge of French history and design combined with first hand experience of the way Americans live mean her designs offer the best of both worlds; European tradition and Anglo-Saxon efficiency. Josephine lives in Paris with her Corsican husband and two children and is actively involved in many expatriate associations.
Michèle
Joly, who founded MJ Design Studio in Paris 12 years ago,
began her career designing spatial environments and model
apartments for builders in her hometown of Manhattan. Upon
moving to France in 1989 with her husband and three children,
she began studying traditional French painting and sewing
techniques. These newfound interests lead to international
recognition as her soft-furnishings were marketed by both
Bergdorf Goodman in the U.S. and Maison et Jardin in France.
With an extensive portfolio in residential projects, Michèle’s
work has been described as modern classical and international
in style.
Michèle and long-time associate Robert Gerstner are committed to producing creative and innovative interior designs. Their aim is to understand the client’s personality and lifestyle requirements and incorporate them into the intrinsic character of their home to create a living space that is both beautiful and functional.
So whether you are coming to France for a week or a lifetime,
